Grace

 Alive!

Ministries                   ...to make all men see  Eph. 3: 9

18th Annual Eastern Grace Bible Believers’ Conference

“Apologies for Grace”

The first definition in the Merriam Webster Dictionary for apology is, “A formal justification”. The second definition listed of apology is, “An admission of error or discourtesy accompanied by an expression of regret.”

So, although we would never apologize for grace, we do make apologies for grace. Our 2007 conference was based on a formal defense and justification of mid-Acts, grace theology. The message titles are accusations that people make against the message of grace.

Apologies for Grace – Tracy Plessinger – Society tells us that all truth is relative and every man has his own version of truth. Is there really such a thing as absolute truth? DOWNLOAD

You Take the Bible Too Literally – Chris Markko – An important element of grace theology is a literal interpretation of Scripture. For example, Israel means Israel, not a type of the Church; Jerusalem means Jerusalem, not your home town; and New Jerusalem means New Jerusalem, not heaven; etc. Why is a literal interpretation of Scripture proper and necessary?

You Throw Out Some of the Bible – Mark Vogt – When we focus on Paul’s epistles and teach that in them alone we find the origin, walk, and destiny of the Body of Christ, many accuse us of throwing out the rest of the Bible. Do we throw away most of the Bible by rightly dividing it?  DOWNLOAD

You Put God in a Box – David Greenwood – When we talk about the lack of supernatural, divine intervention in the Age of Grace, many accuse us of putting God in a box by limiting what he can. The issue at hand is not what God can do, but what He will do. Have we put God in a box, or has he boxed Himself in?  DOWNLOAD

You Don’t Follow Jesus - Kinney Beisel - Many criticize grace believers because we don’t “follow Jesus”. In order to follow Jesus do we have to follow the earthly Christ or is there another pattern set to follow a heavenly Christ?   DOWNLOAD (For more on this topic, go HERE)

Why Doesn’t Anyone Else Believe This? - Steve Atwood - It seems that mid-Acts dispensational churches are few and far between.  If what we believe is the truth, why hasn’t it caught on in the larger realm of Christianity?  DOWNLOAD

You Don’t Believe in Prayer - Dan Gross - Because grace believers view prayer in the Dispensation of Grace as being very different that prayer in time past, some conclude that we don’t believe in prayer at all. Is there such a thing as grace-age prayer, or did prayer go out of style with the delay in Israel’s kingdom?  DOWNLOAD

Grace is a License to Sin - Tom Bruscha - When we  insist that salvation is by grace through faith plus nothing, many say this can’t be true - that would give Christians a license to sin! What is the answer to this accusation? DOWNLOAD

This is New - Alex Kurz - When presenting the truth of right division to someone, they will often counter with the statements like, “This must be something new”, or “How long has this teaching been around”. How long has grace teaching “been around”? Can something be true if you’ve never heard it before?  DOWNLOAD

You’re Hyper! - Steve Atwood - Those who are dispensationalists, but not mid-Acts dispensationalists, often accuse us of being hyper or ultra dispensationalists. Have we gone too far with dispensationalism? Should we have stopped at Acts 2 with Dr. Scofield?

DOWNLOAD

No Translation Can Be Perfect - Shaun Richard - Most of the religious world just can’t fathom the fact that we believe that we have the perfect Word of God in our hands, in our language. Is it possible to have the Word of God preserved for thousands of years and translated into our language and still have perfection? (For more on Bible translations, go HERE) DOWNLOAD

You Don’t Believe in Communion?! - Dan Gross - Not practicing the ‘ordinance’ of the Lord’s supper is the second most controversial thing that we don’t do, even within the grace movement.  We proclaim to follow Paul, and doesn’t Paul institute this practice in I Corinthians 11?  Well, it depends on whether you use a red-letter edition of the Bible...  (For a more in-depth study of this issue, listen HERE) DOWNLOAD

You Don’t Think God Cares About Me! - Alex Kurz - When we teach people that God is not supernaturally intervening to heal their bodies, fix their finances, or get them a new job, their reaction often is that if God isn’t doing all these things, then he must not care about them. Does God’s lack of intervention mean he doesn’t care about our problems? If not, how does He show us He cares? DOWNLOAD

You Don’t Believe in Baptism! - Duane Mishler - Because we don’t teach water baptism many say, with no small consternation, that we don’t believe in baptism. Is water baptism the only baptism in the Bible? Do grace believers believe in baptism?

DOWNLOAD

You Worship Paul - Shaun Richard - In a day when the most popular Christian trinkets ask, “What Would Jesus Do? (WWJD)” it certainly goes against the flow to follow Paul. Do grace believers make too much of Paul? Do we worship Paul instead of Christ? DOWNLOAD

Grace is Easy Believism - Tom Bruscha - When we say that eternal salvation is by grace through faith plus nothing, many say that is too easy.  God wouldn’t accept us without us doing something.  Do we make salvation too easy and thereby cheapen its meaning?
