1 John 3:8-9 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
These two verses have perplexed Bible teachers throughout the ages. Few different theories have been put forth to try to find the true meaning here. For the most part, what the verses say is changed. Unfortunately, changing the reading of the verses simply makes the conundrum worse, not better.
To truly understand these verses, they cannot be changed, but have to be looked at in the exact context in which they are written.
