The local church has been described as the manifestation of the body of Christ in a physical location. The purpose of the local church is to build up the saints, and comfort them in their time of need. It is “one-anothering” as Paul frequently tells us how we should treat one another.
In order to fulfil this mission, Paul lays out how we ought to behave ourselves in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
There is an order to the church, and it is always a local order – never a denominational order or an order over many churches.
