To make all men see….. Ephesians 3:9

Oh, Hell! (The Problem with Universal Reconciliation)

The belief that all creatures (some even include the devil and his angels) will eventually be redeemed and covered by the blood atonement of Christ is a doctrine called Universal Reconciliation.

This doctrine is mostly based on an emotional response to the idea that many will suffer eternal damnation in hell and the lake of fire. The verses used to prop this doctrine up are always taken individually and out of context.

Verses that show everlasting punishment are plenteous and found throughout the scriptures. Christ himself taught the doctrine of everlasting punishment many times.

Universal Reconciliation allows for the denial and even opposition to Jesus Christ. It makes faith unnecessary, and takes away any need for evangelism.

In many ways it mirrors Calvinism. Calvinism says that God chooses some to be saved – Universal Reconciliation says that God chooses all to be saved. Both remove responsibility from the individual.
