To make all men see….. Ephesians 3:9

Prison Epistle Relationships (5) – If Ye Continue . . .

Colossians 1:21-23 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

Is Paul putting a qualifier to our salvation when he says: “If ye continue in the faith , , ?”

This verse is often used by those who believe that our justification before God can be lost. It is used by others to ‘prove’ that one needs to work for salvation. Even others, who believe salvation is assured, will use this verse to ‘show’ that we can be blamable at the judgement seat of Christ.

Yet if any of these were true, they would contradict many, many other passages in God’s Word. So then, what is Paul talking about here?
