To the glory of God alone.
Roman Catholic doctrine always seems to include the individual along with what God has done. When looking at who receives glory, along with God, they include Mary, saints and angels.
Calvinism, on the other hand, take it to the opposite extreme. They say that God chose you first, because if you had the ability to believe to begin with, that would give glory to you.
Neither of these doctrines are scriptural.
God only gets the glory, but man is required to believe. This is made plain in many passages, and especially in Romans 4. Faith is not a work, and is not meritorious on its’ own. Faith does not give glory to man, it gives glory to God:
Romans 4:20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; On the other hand, including works in the gospel accrues debt, not grace (Rom 4:4; 11:6).
Therefore faith cannot be a work.
