Paul tells us in Colossians 2:8 “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.”
He says let no man beguile you. He says let no man spoil you.
He tells Timothy that in the last days some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.
We must be careful not to trade what we know is true for something we don’t know.
But what is truth?
Jesus said: I am the way, the truth and the life. He said: John 8:31-32 ¶ Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
The words of Christ, whether in the gospel, or relayed through His Spirit to the writers of the scriptures, are the only sure truth that we can know. The only place we can find truth is in the Word of God.
