The gospel of the Reformation came to the realization that it was attained by faith alone – sola fide.
But today, when searching through the myriad of preachers who proclaim the gospel,’ how many of them still hold to that truth? Some say that you have to proclaim it out loud. Some say you have to do it publicly. Some say that you have to repent and turn from your sins. Some say you have to say a prayer. Some say you have to make Jesus the Lord of your life.
What does any of that have to do with believing that Christ died for your sins and trusting that as full payment in the eyes of God?
Some don’t even include the death, burial and resurrection as part of ‘the gospel’ that they preach.
